DESIGN + VERSATILITY | Weber Does Quality

There’s no denying the fact that Weber makes superior grills. Being one of the top grill makers in the market, they don’t fall short in the design of their electric grill – the Weber Q 2400 Electric Grill. The Weber Q 2400 is light-weight, portable, and extremely versatile. It’s compact and easy to take with you anywhere such as tailgating, to the beach, or camping (anywhere with an outlet of course!) but also is a great option for a home-based grill. It does attach to a separate Weber Grill Cart so that you don’t have to set it on a surface to use it. There is a portable Weber grill cart or a stationary grill cart option.

The quality of the design of the Weber Q 2400 Electric Grill is superior to many electric grills on the market, which can sometimes seem cheap or poorly made. This grill has a 1560-watt electric heating element, which isn’t the highest wattage we’ve seen for electric grills. However, true to Weber design, they focus more on heat retention and distribution for a better grilling experience.

The grates on the Q 2400 are cast-iron and enameled with porcelain which retains heat and helps create a better sear on food. There are also aluminum heat retention liners inside the grill, and the shell of the grill is made of a cast aluminum which is known for excellent heat retention, much like the PK Charcoal Grill we’ve reviewed. It’s also the largest electric grill we’ve reviewed, with over 280 square inches of cooking space.

SAFETY + DURABILITY | High-Quality Build

Not only are electric grills safer to use, they are much easier than dealing with bags of messy charcoal or tanks of volatile gas. There is no risk of flare-ups because you aren’t cooking over an open flame, and the grill is easy to turn off and cool down once you are finished using it. The grill lid and firebox are constructed of durable porcelain-coated cast aluminum. The cooking surface is made of porcelain-coated cast iron grates which are easy to clean but also rust-resistant and create an even heated space.

There is no lid-mounted temperature gauge on the Weber Q 2400 Electric Grill, meaning that you’ll have to either buy a different grilling thermometer or open the lid more frequently which means you’ll lose heat more often to have safely cooked meals.

On the durability side, there’s nothing like a Weber grill when it comes to durability. There is porcelain enamel everywhere you look which means durability in the long run. A porcelain-enameled aluminum body provides rust-resistance, and porcelain enameled cast iron cooking grates mean longevity as well as easy cleaning. The frame is glass-reinforced with nylon, making it extra durable for traveling and wear and tear.

PERFORMANCE | Quality Features

Ease-of-Use

Most electric grills are easier to use than more traditional charcoal and gas grills. It’s as easy as plugging in the cord to a standard electrical outlet, turning a knob, and heating up your grill. No messing around with messy charcoal or worrying about refilling or checking your gas tank for enough fuel. Also, you don’t have to worry about maintaining a fire, as most electric grills have a temperature knob similar to an oven, just set your temperature and cook.

Like mentioned above, the heat retention for the Q 2400 is unlike any other electric grill we’ve seen. Part of this heat retention and ability to sear food are because of the porcelain enameled cast iron grill grates. Cast iron has the ability to hold heat better than most other metals that we cook with. The porcelain enamel helps keep the cast iron clean, as plain cast iron can be hard to keep clean unless it’s seasoned.

Removable and disposable grease tray

Another great feature that makes grilling with the  Weber Q 2400 Electric Grill a little easier is the removable catch pan. It’s accessible from the bottom and is pretty genius. Many other grills have very small grease trays, which means you have to empty it frequently. Weber includes a disposable catch tray that is able to last you all grilling season. And, if you hate cleaning out grease trays, just stock up on these inexpensive, disposable trays and never have to clean a grease pan again.

Best Features

The Weber Q 2400 Electric Grill is the restyled model of the Q 240. Certain features, like the control knobs, stylishly designed large handles and side handles, and a durable frame and body are the new updates to the Weber Q 2400. Also, not many other electric grills have the ability to sear due to difficulties reaching high temperatures, and the Q 2400 is said to be able to reach temperatures of around 500 degrees Fahrenheit, exactly the temperature that’s said to be able to sear meat.

Weber Q 2400 Electric Grill Review Cast Iron Grates Are Removable

Porcelain-enameled cast iron grates

The heat retention and control of this grill is beyond comparison. This is possible because of two important factors: the aluminum heat retention liner and also the cast iron grates. The grates on the Q 2400 are cast-iron and enameled with porcelain which retains heat and helps create a better sear on food and creates a more even and steady heat. There are also aluminum heat retention liners inside the grill, and the shell of the grill is made of a cast aluminum which is known for excellent heat retention, much like the PK Charcoal Grill we’ve reviewed. The 6-foot grounded cord is longer than most cords that come with electric grills and gives you some room to move around. It’s not recommended to use extension cords with electric grills because it increases the fire hazard, so just be careful with this. The control knob is simple to use; just turn it to turn it on and set the exact temperature you would like to cook at, much like an oven. The heating element on the inside of the Weber Q 2400 is large enough to cover the whole interior of the body and produces nice even heat.
